Casa Pujades
Housing, Barcelona. 4 210 m². 2019 · Built.
We draw in the order a building is actually built: ground, structure, skin, then finish. Nothing reaches a site that the people pouring it can’t read.
Eighteen metres of set-back, one shadow line, the first metre of stone. The site settles the plan before we draw a single wall.
01 / Ground — Site strategy, Massing, Light study. Set-back 18 m, Levels 2.
The shuttering is drawn at 1:5 before a board is cut. Every joint you will still see in ten years is decided here, in plywood.
02 / Formwork — Shuttering 1:5, Board joints, Pour sequence. Pours 4, Board 2.4 m.
Seven point four metres of air, hard surfaces and one soft one overhead. The frame is tuned to speech before anything is clad — you can talk across it without raising your voice.
03 / Structure — Double height, Acoustic plaster, Exposed frame. Height 7.4 m, Span 18 m.
Nine columns, nine metres apart, one bay of sunlight between each. The skin sets your pace, so you arrive already slowed down.
04 / Envelope — 9 m grid, In-situ concrete, Raking light. Bays 9, Grid 9 m.
Local stone does the work. Oak and brass are here only for the joints, and nothing else is added — the rest is shadow and the way five o'clock lands.
05 / Finish — Local stone, Solid oak, Untreated brass. Palette 3, Stone 40 mm.
The corridor ends in one room with a single deep window. Nothing is on the walls. What you notice is the light, the stone underfoot, and how quiet it is.
06 / Handover — Deep reveal, Oak lining, One window. Handed over 2026, Visits 1 / 3 / 10 yr.

Six handed over, two on site. Yours would be the ninth — send us the plot number.
Twenty-two people, one workshop, one saw bench. Every project is built at 1:20 in card and timber before anyone pours it at 1:1.
No project leaves the studio without a physical model. A screen flattens what a hand reads in a second.
Every project earns exactly one dominant material. If the argument for it will not fit in a paragraph, it is the wrong material.
The handrail is drawn at the same scale as the frame. Get the millimetre wrong and the metre is only decoration.
We come back at year 1, 3 and 10 and write up what moved. Buildings fail slowly; we would rather be the ones who notice.
A plot number, a survey, or a photo taken from the road is enough to start. You get an honest read within five working days: what the site can hold, what it will cost to find out, and whether we are the right studio for it. Nothing is invoiced until there is a brief we have both signed.
